Bill Heeman
The man who started it all. Mr. Heeman first came to Canada trained as diesel mechanic but his wife Susan missed the greenhouses her father had in Holland. Bill built the first greenhouse for growing tomatoes but transitioned to flowers in 1977. From there Bill has turned hard work and dedication into a thriving greenhouse that is the favourite of thousands in the area. He is still hard at work in the greenhouses but is joined by his children and grandchildren. Read the complete family history.
Rita Heeman
The youngest daughter of Bill and Susan who has been working in the family business since moving back from a career in Toronto to manage the sales and administration side of the business. Since her return things have really grown and so has Rita's knowledge. She is a wealth of information in all areas of the greenhouse. One of her favourite plants is the Wave Petunia, beautiful colours, drought resistant and low maintenance.
Will Heeman
The third generation of Heeman's to join the family business. Will grew up in the greenhouse and has a passion for plants and people. After completing a degree in business and geography, he has come back to join the family business. Will travelled to New Zealand in 2010 and worked a sabbatical position at a leading Garden Centre there, returning with a fresh perspective on gardening. Will's personal plant favourite is the Calliope red double geranium which has a stunning blood red colour and strong growing habit.
Matt
A familiar face with local gardening enthusiasts, Matt is wealth of knowledge in all areas but especially with shrubs and indoor plants. Having been with us for 7 years and in the industry for 16 years, Matt can probably help you with any question you might have. For shrub fans he recommends his favourite, the serviceberry.
Trish
Heeman's resident perennial lady and transplanter extraordinaire! If you buy a bedding plant this spring, chances are Trish planted it. Having worked at Heeman's for 17 years she knows a thing or two about plants. Trish's personal favourite is the tropical plant, bougainvillea.
Pat
This woman was born to be a gardener. With over 40 years experience, her earliest gardening jobs date back when she was just 7 years old. Pat is Heeman's resident vegetable expert. She has been with Heeman's for 14 years now and recommends the Ultra Girl tomato to veggie fans.
Anna
The woman who makes all the magic happen in our bedding plants area! Anna has been helping gardeners with their annuals for the last 9 years here but has a collective 24 years experience in Poland and Canada. When it comes to bedding plants she's second to none and recommends the Magellan zinnia to annual fans.
Connie
The lady who gets all of your favorites planted in the back and a 13 year veteran at Heeman's. Connie is responsible for all the potting staff in the back, the unseen but amazing people who work hard planting all those plants you love so much. Connie has a wealth of experience with annuals and recommends the amazingly versatile Dragon wing begonia to all you green thumbs.
Patsy
As the woman responsible for overseeing all of your custom orders and winter storage at Heeman's, Patsy plays a major role at Heeman's. She has been working in the greenhouse for 9 years and has a knack for helping people pick the perfect containers for their homes and she can help you too.
Gail
Has a gift for creating fresh contain designs and combinations developed over 21 years in the industy. She is a wealth of knowledge and says her favorite part of the job is helping customers get inspired. Whether its a new garden or refilling a hanging basket, Gail is happy to help!
Wes
A UWO business grad who has too much fun working with plants and help people like you, Wes has worked at Heeman's for 4 years. A 6 year veteran of the industry who specializes in annuals, Wes recommends the new Northern Lights tropical Hibiscus to fans of brilliantly colourful blooms.
