Produce at Heeman's
Strawberries
The first thing that comes to many people's mind when they hear Heeman's is strawberries. We have grown strawberries since the Heeman family came to the area in 1963. Our strawberries are usually available in the last week in May or beginning of June and the regular season last for 5 to 7 weeks depending on the weather. Strawberries throughout June and into July is a guarantee on the farm.
With the addition of everbearing strawberries we begin picking berries again at the end of July and continue with good supply all the way to the first hard frost in the fall, usually late October.
It's not uncommon to see strawberries, raspberries and cherries all available when you come in the first half of July.
We have a complete list and description of the strawberry varieties we grow. Strawberry Varieties
Raspberries
We've been growing raspberries for over 15 years and are a wonderful compliment to our strawberries. Raspberries are usually in season for Canada Day and last for the month of July however we also have everbearing raspberries!
Everbearing raspberries are in season at the end of July and continue to fruit until the first hard frost, usually late October, just like our everbearing strawberries. That means for those avid raspberry fans a trip to our farm will earn you fresh picked raspberries for nearly four months!
Sweet Cherries

With the nearest cherry farm nearly 45 minutes away we have been supplying the best locally grown sweet cherries to our loyal customers for over a decade. The best cherries are the freshest and you can't get any fresher than the ones picked in Blenheim. We get cases of the best cherries sent up daily usually around the end of June or first week in July and the season lasts for roughly three weeks.
Sweet Corn
Heeman's has been supplying our community with their sweet corn fix for years. With the latest varieties and by using a raised bed and irrigation the crop is now available earlier than ever. Sweet corn is usually in season in the first half of July and available well into September.
The most common question about our sweet corn has to be 'is it peaches and cream?' The answer is yes and no. While it is a bi-colour corn peaches and cream hasn't really been grown since the 1950's. Today so many people known a white and yellow corn as peaches and cream that it's now used as a label for all bi-colour corn. We have the sweetest, sugar enhanced varieties of bi-colour and yellow sweet corn.
Blueberries
There were too many blueberries fans without a local farm to get their fix that we had to oblige them by providing fresh, locally grown blueberries. The local blueberry season can really vary based on weather but usually starts near the end of July and into September.
