Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh or frozen* Ontario strawberries
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup orange juice, lemonade, or milk (plus more for thinning, if necessary)
* Adding frozen strawberries will make a thicker smoothie while fresh strawberries make a more liquid smoothie.
Instructions:
- Peel the banana.
- Combine all the ingredients in a blender.
- Blend on high until smooth. Add more liquid if the smoothie is too thick.
- Serve immediately.
Additional Options:
- Remove banana & substitute raspberries/ blueberries for strawberries.
- Remove banana and use cranberry-grape/cranberry-raspberry juice instead of orange juice.
- Peach, raspberry, mixed berry, or your favorite yogurt can be used.
- For protein boost add a tablespoon of peanut butter/ small scoop of protein powder, we like chocolate since it tastes like a banana split!
Time Saving Tips:
- Freeze fruit in portions sizes suitable for your recipe.
- If using frozen fruit, take out and let thaw overnight in refrigerator; this really helps with easier blending of smoothie.
- Measure out all the ingredients into the blender jar the night before and refrigerate ready to blend in the morning.
- Transportable in an insulated mug for on the go meals or snacks.
