How to BBQ Sweet Corn
Cooking up sweet corn can be like cooking up little kernels of joy. The only thing better than sweet corn in the summer is grilling that corn on the BBQ with all the other fixings. Learn how to properly barbecue your corn to get an extra tasty flavour.
While there are many ways to cook sweet corn, sometimes the best way is right outside in the great outdoors. It can get hot in the house over boiled water so barbecuing your sweet corn can be a great, and uniquely flavoured alternative. There is no true right or wrong way to BBQ your corn but if you prefer a sweet and natural corn flavour we recommend that you avoid the following cook methods.
Avoid Cooking Like This


Husked and grilled direction on your barbeque grids or husked and wrapped in aluminum foil then grilled. Both of these methods lead to direct contact between your corn and the grids of your barbeque. The result is often a burnt cob with kernals that are charred, spoiling the flavour.
How To Properly Grill Corn (For Great Flavour)
- Fill a bucket or pot with water (any temperature) and place cobs of corn (with husks on) in the bucket. Let them sit, longer the better. Anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours is fine, the goal is to get the water to soak the cob thoroughly.
Heat your barbeque and once hot place you cobs on the grill. Cook on medium heat. Don't worry, the corn won't catch fire thanks to the soaking in the water. Continue to cook cobs and flip for even cooking- When husk is charred, blackened and begins pealing away the corn is fully cooked. Remove husk (when cool) and serve.
