Casual Driver

As a key member of the Heeman’s team, your role as a Driver will assist in delivering and picking up a wide variety of produce and plant product locally and longer journeys within Ontario.

Employment Type:

Casual, Part-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Drivers are responsible for delivering or picking up strawberries, plants and other items as needed
  • Arrive at destinations on schedule
  • Experience driving longer routes
  • Experience driving in congested, high-traffic areas
  • Experience driving on all major highways (401, 403, QEW etc)
  • Using navigation applications to determine the best routes
  • Complete a safety check of the vehicle and maintain a log of checks and mileage for each trip
  • Work in compliance with all human resources, operational (SOP) and Food, Health & Safety policies and procedures

Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Open communication style
  • Friendly demeanour – you’re the face of Heeman’s in the community as we deliver delicious berries or deal with trusted vendors and clients.
  • Capable of following direction and working independently

Education, Experience & Language

  • Clean driving record
  • G License
  • Language: advanced English (written and oral)

Availability:

  • Availability to work before and after regular hours and during all hours of operation (which will include weekends)
  • Willingness to work as part of a pool of drivers, open to casual shifts
  • Weekend deliveries are common
  • Flexibility to accommodate scheduling changes
  • Ability to work on short notice
  • More availability needed for June-October

As a Driver, you’ll spend most of your time on the road, navigating a variety of routes—from local deliveries to longer trips across Ontario—while representing Heeman’s in the community.

This role requires comfort working independently, managing time effectively, and adapting to changing schedules, traffic conditions, and weather. You’ll play an important part in ensuring our products arrive safely and on time, whether delivering fresh berries to customers or coordinating with vendors and partners. The role may also involve loading and unloading items, which can weigh up to 50 lbs. Heeman’s is proudly a family-owned, agriculture-based business, and our employees are classified as agriculture employees under the ESA.
