FROM ORCHARD PAST, TO CELLAR PERFECTION

A rare Ontario heritage apple has made its way into the glass

This summer, we’re releasing something truly special: a small-batch, single varietal cider made entirely from 100% Ontario-grown Swayzie Pomme Grise apples. Bright, complex, and full of character, it offers notes of fresh apple, soft honey, light citrus, and a dry, gently warming finish.

More than a great cider, it’s a taste of Ontario’s agricultural history and a story that has been waiting over 200 years to be shared and to be adored by cider lovers.

Why This Apple Is So Special

A Taste of Ontario Heritage

The Swayzie Pomme Grise is the kind of apple that doesn’t come around often.

This rare heritage apple was first discovered and propagated in Ontario’s Niagara region in the late 1700s, as Loyalist settlers established some of the province’s earliest orchards.

Small, cinnamon-russeted, and naturally concentrated, it was once considered one of Ontario’s finest dessert apples, celebrated for its rich flavour, natural sweetness, and aromatic complexity.

But the trees simply weren’t productive enough for commercial growers, and the variety nearly disappeared. Today, only a handful of old trees remain.

Made with fruit harvested from 80-year-old trees still growing in the Niagara region, this cider offers a rare chance to experience a piece of Ontario’s orchard past.
